Agit Global recalls nearly 125,000 paddles amid risk of punctures and laceration – Boston 25 News

Agit Global North America recalled about 124,000 paddles sold with stand-up paddleboards on Thursday because they can suddenly break in the middle of the shaft, exposing sharp edges and posing serious risks of injury such as punctures and lacerations.

The reminder involved paddles with model years 2015 to 2020 that were sold with 8ft, 8ft, 6in, 9ft, 6in and 10ft, 6in Wave Storm, Storm Blade, Ozoboard, True Wave, Bloo Stand-up paddleboards Tide , Dorsal and Rock It Surf.

According to the reminder, paddles were included with the original purchase or as warranty replacement paddles and are not sold individually. Each paddle is printed with a four or five character manufacturing code on the paddle blade. The complete list of prefixes or codes can be found in the reminder.

Act Global a commissioned 19 reports to date of mid-shaft paddles breaking during use, including six reports of leg punctures or lacerations.

Affected paddles were sold at Costco, Home Depot, REI, Amazon, walmart.comSam’s Club and small surf/sporting goods stores nationwide and online at https://shop.agit-global.com/ from January 2015 to December 2020 for between $180 and $480 each.

Consumers are informed to immediately discontinue use of the recalled paddles and contact Agit Global North America for a free, approximately 2-foot-long slider paddle shaft sleeve, “intended to be installed on the paddle shaft when the paddle is used”.
