Melissa’s page has several viral videos, including a clip viewed 121 million times and another viewed by 37 million TikTok users.

The videos show BabyGirl surfing and frolicking in the pool as well as using the pool’s skimmer basket as her own little doggy door.

Melissa said: “The dog is called BabyGirl and is a seven-pound, eight-year-old puddin (mini) Jack Russell Terrier.

“She is very small compared to other Jack Russells, with her legs not much longer than your front index finger.

“I’ve had her since she was two months old and she’s been swimming since the day I got her.”

She added: “I saved Jack Russells for many years, and they loved swimming and surfing.”

Melissa told Zenger News, “BabyGirl used to use my in-ground pool steps.

“My boyfriend has a house with an above ground pool. She is very independent and likes to get in and out of the pool on her own.

“She went to get the skimmer basket seven years ago like it was her own dog door and used the ledge to walk around.

“She is small, but fierce. Once she went after a really big bobcat that was hiding in the garage.

Melissa said: “Jack Russells are very agile, athletic and intelligent. They also need to stimulate their minds, so I’m going to put little toys in the pool so she can “rescue” them or try to find them.

“She can maneuver her surfboard in a calm pool and get to the edge to jump. Although she is very independent, we never leave her alone.

“There are eagles in the area that will snatch a small pet.

“She had puppies a few years ago and these went to children with special needs. She is very good with children with special needs and is certified as a therapy dog, although she does not like other dogs.

She added, “BabyGirl is kind of a diva!”

Melissa told Zenger News, “A lot of fans are worried about her. I used to worry about her too, but she’s really, really careful. I’m not agitated by some of the comments, most of them people come from a place of loving concern.

“Many followers have asked me not to use music as they prefer to hear her swimming and tapping on the ledge. They like to hear her ears flapping when she is shaking. Many have found her videos relaxing and therapeutic for sufferers. anxiety disorders or who are in ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) for post-traumatic stress disorder.

“I love hearing that and I’m so happy they get to see the magic that is BabyGirl.”
