Small shopping for the holidays

The holidays are fast approaching and now is the time to get a head start on gift shopping. COVID-19 has had a ripple effect on the global supply chain, delaying shipments this year. This means that there has never been a better time to buy local.

“I feel like a worker here, like we invest so much in our customers. We just want them to have the best experience, ”said Lauren Davies, Called to Surf employee.

Local businesses across Utah are gearing up for a busy holiday season. Shop owners, artists and bakers are just a few of the entrepreneurs who are hoping to do well this year and continue to grow their businesses.

“This time of year is a time when many small businesses are thriving,” said freelance artist Megan Larson. It’s because everyone wants unique and customizable gifts, she said.

There are many great reasons to shop small for the holidays.

“Since this is a smaller store compared to these larger stores, it’s so easy to get help from the staff and it’s a pleasant experience,” Davies said.

“I think shopping small can be more sincere from this customer’s point of view and I think that’s why a lot of people choose to contact me for custom orders, it’s to do something really special.” , Larson said.

“Especially during the holidays, just because this time of year is getting so stressful and I feel like it’s a great plus to have good customer service by your side,” Davies said.

Due to the lasting disruption of COVID-19, many people feel stressed about having their vacation packages delivered on time. But when you shop locally, you not only avoid these potential delivery delays, but you also help entrepreneurs in your communities succeed.

“When you shop small, you are really helping artists like me, as well as various entrepreneurs and creators, realize their dreams and see their businesses grow. So I think it’s such a special thing for us. We love all of our customers so much for this reason, ”said Larson.
